Red Cross Training at the TRC

Grant Hoyle from the Red Cross Team came to Training Resource Centre (TRC) this January to provide a basic first aid session for our Conway House residents.

Grant provided advice on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and how to perform the necessary chest compressions. He also gave guidance on what to do when you find someone unconscious and how to place someone in the recovery position.

The aim of training sessions, such as the one provided by Grant, is to help individuals feel confident and willing to give first aid in an emergency. Hassan, from our Conway House service, attended the session and commented on how useful he found it:

“It’s a good programme. I learnt how to do Chest Compressions (CPR) and I also learnt that we don’t do mouth to mouth resuscitation any more.”

The session was very popular and the Conwy House team have already confirmed another date in March for another session. The session will last for two hours, from 2pm – 4pm, on Monday 12th March. This session is open to ALL Sapphire Independent Housing residents. Everyone who attends will receive a certificate of attendance, from the Red Cross, to show they have taken part.

If you would like to attend the next first aid session in March please speak to your key worker, reception staff or housing officer who will book you a place with the TRC’s ETE Co-ordinator.

Next Session date and time:

When: Monday 12th March

Where: TRC, based at Conway House
