    Sapphire Independent Housing is a growing smaller housing association responding to the changing needs of affordable housing in London and Hertfordshire, while keeping the residents at the heart of everything we do.

    Our track record in housing is established and proven. We are ambitious for the services that we deliver and it is an exciting time to join our Board. Sapphire have embarked on a significant development programme, making a £35 million investment into new affordable housing whilst retaining our commitment to our supported housing roots.

    Recognising that strong governance is crucial to our continuing success we are now seeking two new members to join our Board.

    We are looking for professional people with an impressive track record of achievement in their field either in a senior or non-executive position. We want to hear from people who will contribute to our overall strategic direction and have the ability to govern a highly specialised and complex organisation.

    We particularly invite interest from candidates with cross sector experience and background in either:-

    • Development (housing association experience)

    OR

    • Who have current or recent Lived Experience of Social Housing.

    Putting your communication skills to good use, you will provide effective support to residents including crisis intervention and follow up with relevant key workers at handover.     The role

    We are seeking a strong, experienced senior manager to join our Executive Management Team as Director of Operations. Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will lead housing management, asset management, supported housing and leasehold services, ensuring excellent, compliant and financially sustainable delivery.

    It’s an exciting time to join us. You will help shape our future direction, balancing strategic leadership with day-to-day delivery, supporting your teams, stepping in where needed and ensuring delivery on the ground.

    What you’ll do

    • Lead the delivery of our housing and support services, ensuring quality, compliance, and value for money
    • Drive our asset management strategy, including health and safety and regulatory compliance
    • Oversee supported housing services, ensuring contractual compliance and financial sustainability
    • Shape decisions on growth and the management of new homes
    • Lead resident engagement, ensuring customers influence how services are delivered
    • Act as a visible ambassador for SIH, building strong relationships across the association as well as with partners, funders and other agencies

    About you

    We are looking for:

    • A proven operational leader with excellent people skills and a strong track record of achievement in one or more of the following areas: asset management, housing management, supported housing or leasehold management.
    • A confident approach to working with boards, governance and regulatory frameworks.
    • A clear commitment to resident engagement and delivering the highest service standards.A willingness to study towards, and achieve, a Level 5 CIH Housing Management qualification, if not already held.

    We’re now seeking a Housing Assistant to deliver a responsive and proactive housing management service at Bethany House, our female scheme in Islington – as well as contributing to initiatives that enhance our services for tenants and residents in permanent and temporary accommodation.

    You’ll be expected to provide a customer focused letting service to all prospective and new tenants and to liaise with tenants on housing management issues. Your responsibilities will range from reception and office admin duties to housing management functions, including rent collection. This will include managing post and visitors, overseeing all contractors coming into the building, dealing with emergency situations and liaising with the team to ensure all tasks are covered and completed.

    We’re looking for:

    • Proven experience in supported housing, with knowledge of welfare benefits, rent collection and identifying maintenance/repair issues.
    • Proven experience in customer service and handling complaints.
    • Experience of IT systems and Microsoft Office applications.
    • Experience of administration and office systems.
    • Good standard of education, with ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
    • Ability to organise and prioritise your work, to meet deadlines and targets.
    • The flexibility to work in a small team in a small organisation, with team spirit, good judgement and practical problem solving.
    • Understanding of working in a diverse environment.

    Sapphire Independent Housing is wishing to increase its locum bank staff in various locations. Locum staff provide a professional, flexible service to our schemes and will be required to cover short term staff absence.

    Our rates are:

    • Project Worker (to include key working): £16.42 per hour (including paid holiday entitlement)
    • Project Assistant (no key working): £13.38 per hour (including paid holiday entitlement)

    Previous experience in supported housing/hostels will be of significant advantage.
