People may become homeless for a variety of reasons. Our thanks to the residents who have shared their experiences with us and talked about their hopes for the future.

My Story

I am from the Congo originally and came to the UK around five years ago. I came here to live with my dad but it wasn’t great living with him and my step mum and it didn’t really work out. I became unwell and spent three months in hospital. When I came out I didn’t have anywhere else to go so the hospital referred me to Townsend House.

Georgia

My Story

After living in Manchester, Georgia had a relationship breakdown with her ex-partner and moved out of their home along with her four children and went to stay with her family. As they were overcrowded, she decided to try and move into private rented accommodation, however this was not possible due to her being unemployed and on benefits.

Kevin spent six years in prison at 11 different institutions before seizing on the chance to restart his life after being released in 2022 to Sapphire’s Conway House men’s hostel – for the second time.
